Band Geeks was the all-star band formed for Geek Prom in 2006.
The group played everything from classic geek tunes to the
latest hits in the Science Museum's lobby.
Members of Band Geeks were:
Ryan Hanson,
guitar, keys
A talented "mullet-instrumentalist," Ryan played
his sexiest instrument: the bass trombone. Nicknamed "Glasses"
by his cruel former band mates, Ryan is well-versed in many
styles of music, and holds a B.A. in music. He teaches concert
and pep band in northern Minnesota, while geeking out on weekends.
Andrew Strom,
bass guitar, vocals
Hailing from Dubuque, IA, where he earned a master's degree
in engineering, Andrew cut his teeth in such bands as the
Dorks and the Fontanelles. He also toured nationally with
the Wobblies.
Clay Williams,
guitar, lap steel, vocals
Clay is a player's player, and has been at it for nearly three
decades. After stints in several rock bands throughout the
'70s and '80s, Clay turned his attention to writing and performing
country songs. After several near-misses in Nashville, and
rubbing elbows with some of the greats, he decided to stay
in Minnesota. Clay fronts the rockabilly power trio the Dieselfitters,
and spends time with local country band Roy Hubbs.
Sean Gilchrist,
drums, percussion, vocals
Sean has been making music for almost 20 years. One of the
rare drummers who can actually hold a tune, he sometimes grabs
a guitar and comes out front to lead his local band, Fuller.
